Enthusiastic candidates  ask me how they can best prepare for the PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC). My answer is always the same - Dive Theory.
You must be confident that you can pass the Divemaster Exams on the following five subjects: Physics, Physiology, RDP, Equipment and Dive Skills & the Environment before the start of your PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC). 
The theory isn't any harder than you've learnt already so get those Divemaster Exams out and do them again and again.  Use the PADI Diving Knowledge Workbook to refresh any grey areas.
