PADI Instructor Plus Course

PADI Course Director Steve Prior gives tips on preparing for PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).
Steve's Tips
 on Why to do the
Instructor Plus Course

During the PADI IDC Knowledge Development Presentations we teach PADI IDC candidates to tell their student divers the value of learning the information. This is in the form of "how and when" they will use the information themselves. I always suggest that their example is ASAP, because this creates a need to learn. If the example is sometime in the distant future then the divers tune out rather than tune in.
The same is true of the information you learnt during your PADI IDC. If the information had a direct impact on your imminent PADI Instructors Exam you stored it in your brain and chances are, you can still recall that information even now. However, there was a wealth of information and great ideas that were discussed that was not directly connected with the PADI IE which you probably thought would come in very useful once you had started to teach, but can you remember it now?
Sure, you get to revisit the subjects when you enrol onto a PADI IDC as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, but you have to wait until you have earned PADI MSDT before you can do that. Now that the PADI IE is out of the way and you have freed up some brain cells, revisit the subjects, it will be a revelation to you.

Now that you have qualified as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and have taught your first few courses in the real World. Do you feel as though you need a guiding hand? Do you wish that you had:

~ Better rapport with your students?
~ More efficient use of time?
~ Students wanting to do more courses with you?
~ More confidence?

Or do you just wish you had someone to share your experiences with and bounce ideas off?

This course will address all of these issues.

The Course Includes:-

Teaching Review - We will discuss and analyse your teaching experiences so far. This is a great opportunity to share experiences and gain knowledge in a positive and constructive atmosphere.

The Psychology of Teaching - Words are so powerful and influential that this subject is worth revisiting. We will review the words we are using during our teaching presentations and when talking about diving to get positive results.

Interactive Briefings - We will introduce you to a method of briefing and debriefing at will keep your student divers engaged, interested and accelerate their learning.

Integrated Briefings - We will show you how to expand your briefings to encompass a complete Open Water Dive.

Professionalism - This is not just about looking presentable and exhibiting role model behaviour. We will discuss what Dive Centre and Resort Managers are looking for in prospective employees.
