There are some very simple things that all PADI Instructors can do to make thier courses more effective, and make themselves more personable to their Students.
I’m teaching a PADI IDC right now that is packed with great psychological tips that can help your students learn quicker and more effective.
But I’ve just seen this TED talk video on the Facebook page of a very good friend of mine ( Thanks KAT!! ) I know that if you want to improve your teaching, this is one tip that you will be interested in.
If you’re interested in improving your techniques, please ask me about my all new, “Power of Words” course that is full of wonderful simple ideas that will be certain to make you more successful, and help your students to learn faster and easier.. It’s a lot of fun too!
During our February trip to Egypt, Jan and I popped down to Marsa Alam for a week.
While we were there, a friend asked us if we could take some video of underwater scenes for a new single. It’s now been released and it’s here:
So in amongst teaching the PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course Jan took video of my bubbles.. We have a tough life!!!
Lizard Brain is the name of the Band and you can find more here: http://www.youtube.com/user/LizardBrainBand?feature=watch
Way back over 20 years ago, I decided to live my life the way that I wanted to live it. Not the way that society decided that I should live it. I became a PADI instructor, and have never regretted it. To say that it changed my life, would be the biggest understatement ever!
Take a look at this video. It is by a British Philosopher Alan Watts. He died in 1973. It’s Your life, and You have to decide how to live it. Give me a call if you have questions about becoming a PADI instructor
“Can I make money as a Scuba Diving Instructor?” That’s a question that I’m often asked! The answer is easy, Yes you can. You just need to be shown how. Over the years, I’ve worked with many different Scuba Diving Centres, and many different Instructors. I’ve taken the very best techniques from all of them and put them together into one workshop that we call “Beyond Instructor” Contact us for more details.
If you are thinking about becoming a PADI Insructor, here is some advice that I’ve put into a video.
Emperor Divers PADI IDC in Sharm el Sheikh February 2012
Why is this skill so important?
Emergency Accident reports around the world have discovered that a large percentage of scuba diving accidents or fatalities have occured after divers have reached the surface.
They then subsequently have drowned.
As PADI Divemasters or Instructors, we know that in the Rescue course we learn that we always attempt to establish buoyancy as a first step in most situations.
Why is this skill unique in the PADI System?
So it’s no surprise that this basic function of the BCD is learnt at the very first sage of a divers progress.
What might be a surprise though, is that this skill is so important, that it appears to contravine the basic PADI stratagy of “All Skills must be taught initially by a PADI Instructor” This skill is deemed so important that it MUST be practiced by a DSD Leader on a DSD. It’s the only skill that falls into this catagory other than breathing and equalisation.
Why is this skill important to PADI Divemasters or PADI IDC candidates?
Here is an IDC Candidate performing this skill. Inciedentally, this video also shows a perfect way of integrating a briefing and demonstration at the same time.
If you’re heading for a PADI IDC or PADI IE, this video shows a great way to score a 5 on both briefing and demonstration.
